Fall Sermon Series: On Earth as it is In Heaven

Well, July came and went before we even knew what happened.  Its been a whirlwind of a month in the Hopkins household – but its been a real joy to be welcomed as a part of the Kendricks Creek community.

Today marks the first day of school for most kids in the area.  Yet, as the calendar turns to August, summer very much feels to be in full swing!  That said, we will be launching our Fall Sermon Series this Sunday, August 7th.  The title will be On Earth as it is in Heaven, as we read through Jesus’ Sermon on the Mount as recorded in Matthew’s Gospel.

Do you remember that one line in the Great Commission where Jesus describes the method his disciples will use to make more disciples? He says we are to baptize in the name of the Triune God and teach obedience to his commands.  As it so happens, the Sermon on the Mount is one of the most significant teaching passages in the New Testament.  In Matthew 5-7, Jesus describes what citizenship in the Kingdom of God looks like and how we are to live it out. So what better place to spend our time?

For those I’ve met so far, thanks for being patient with me as I get to know all the new names and faces.  For those who’ve yet to make my acquaintance, I can’t wait to see you sometime this Fall!

Grace and peace,

Steve Hopkins
